Hari Raya

Went back to Kuala Terengganu for Hari Raya celebration. Had quite a nice time there though it was really hot. Kuala Terengganu is my mom's hometown and she was born and raised in Kampung Telok Pasu which is situated along the Terengganu River. Check the pic below, Kampung Telok Pasu is across the river.

On Hari Raya we did the usual stuff like going for Raya Prayers and visit friends and relatives. Ate quite a bit because at the end of the day I was quite stuffed. The food is always great here in Terengganu especially nasi dagang and laksa Terengganu.

We were there for 2 days and stayed at the Primula Hotel as there was no space left at my Grandpa's house. It is a very old house but through the years Grandpa has renovated here and there and resulted in a big Kampung house. Check the pic below:

Guess who I met at the SMEs Global 2007. It was my old friends from high school. It was a surprise actually to meet them after so many years, they really changed a lot. I feel like I'm still the same old guy that left high school way back in 2001, at least my weight. Anyway had a chat with 2 of them. Here's what they have been doing for the past few years.

Ayesha: Studied architecture at UiTM Shah Alam and recently graduated and she is now looking to further her studies in a totally different field; pastry and baking. She is planning to go to Bangkok to enroll in a pastry making school opened up by a French guy. She said she wanted to design her own bakery in the future and I wish her all the best!

Dalween: She is still studying and currently on holiday. She studies medicine at a University in Russia but I did not get the name of the place(it has tounge twisting name). She has been there for 4 years and I believe she has another 3 more years to go. So again all the best!

Going back to the expo, it was really an eye opener. I didn't know there were so many kinds of business and opportunity that are available for me to take advantage of. I signed up for an eBay crash course and I hope they will help me learn how to make money on eBay. Apart from that, various talks on e-marketing such as e-mail marketing, affiliate programs, blog for business and so on can be beneficial as I am planning to start up a business in the future. I will be looking forward for more event such as this.

Here are the 2007/2008 Bayern Munchen kit. Personally I think this season's jerseys are much nicer compared to the past 2 seasons. The away jersey is my favourite. I hope I will own one in the future because I don't have the money to buy one. Its too expensive!

Vintage Bayern Jersey (1970s)

Im also on the lookout for vintage Bayern jerseys. Though I will have to fork out a lot for those because they are REALLY expansive. If you head to eBay and do a search for vintage jerseys, you will see what I mean. Even the starting price are tripple the price of the new jerseys and its in US or UK currencies which makes it even more painful to watch. Adidas have also started to reproduce some of the old Bayern shirts like the one above but I prefer the real thing.

Global SMEs 2007

The 8th International Strategic Partnership & Business Networking Trade Fair for SMEs or Global SMEs 2007 for short will be held at the Matrade Exhibition & Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 6th - 8th September. This will be a good platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and businesses to broaden their network and to look for opportunities in the global market.

Merdeka Chess Tournament 2007

The Malaysian Chess Federation organised a chess tournament along with our 50th Merdeka Celebration. A friend of mine invited me to join the tourney which was held from 31/8/07 - 2/9/07. The team consists of Faizal(me), Kelvin Low, Steven Ooi, Ming Teng, Andrew Kare and we called ourselves the Fantastic Five:

There was in total 8 rounds to play. I personally had a hard time. My first big chess tourney in years. I remember my last chess tourney was in Form 3. So just imagine the hard time I was in. I didn't even know how to write down the moves. I even wrote down the castling move as Castleing!! LOL! So noob..it was supposed to be 0-0.

The first game was just pure bad luck. Selangor A consist of National Masters and as a result we were PWNED!! Check the pic below, the guy covering his face is my first opponent!!

Overall it was a great experience for me even though i did not win any games. But I believe i did play well, just the lack of experience prevented me from winning or drawing. Well next time Fantastic Five will do better.

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Happy Merdeka Day Malaysia! This marks the 50th year of Malaysia's Independence from the British Empire. The event in Dataran Merdeka was a success. Huge crowd made up of all races turned up for the event to celebrate together. Of course the fireworks display is stunning as usual but this time they have added laser performance as well. Truly amazing.

This is a song I have been searching for ages. I heard this song for the first time was on an Indonesian music video chart show. They are a bunch of retro loving people who make really good pop songs with a retro touch. Ain Arabia

Ok, I had a walk around Bukit Bintang area yesterday when i stumbled upon a very unique place just opposite BB Plaza. Its called Ain Arabia and it translates to Eye of Arabia. The place itself has been transformed to look a lot like a place in the middle east. This probably was done to cater for the high number of middle east tourists that come here every year especially in the months of June - August. My opinion is that the Gov has done a good job to renovate the whole place as i remember few years back that place looks pretty ugly. Though I support the Gov effort to promote Malaysia I keep thinking the process to cater for tourist is really changing how Bukit Bintang is right now. Believe me! have a walk along the shop lots and you will think you are walking in a place in middle east instead! there are so many signs written in arabic and shops that serves middle eastern food and products. I believe this is not what the tourist come here for. Imagine tourists from Germany coming to Bukit Bintang will most likely think whether they are in Malaysia or Middle East. First of all, I would like to say thank you to The Star newspaper for giving me wrong information about the venue for the Merdeka Cup 2007 semi final between Malaysia/Singapore and Myanmar/Zimbabwe. The venue stated was Stadium Shah Alam when the real venue was the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya. I went with a friend, drove through heavy rain and traffic jam only to realise something was amiss. Why was the Shah Alam Stadium so dark?, we thought. I was speculating maybe because of the heavy rain they have delayed the kick-off or postpone it all together. So we were quite frustrated but we still drove to the main gate and ask a guy there what happened to the match. Well, the guy smiled and said "bola ada, tapi dekat MBPJ Stadium Kelana Jaya". At that moment we just stood there in silence reflecting back on the horrible journey to Shah Alam. Damn!! Damn it!! Why the hell did we come to Shah Alam for then? My friend called his dad to confirm the venue on the newspaper and it was true, it said the venue is Stadium Shah Alam. Angrily we drove all the way back to Kelana Jaya and were able to see the second half of the game. But we noticed something, how on earth did all the other 1000+ fans knew the game was held there? Maybe its just us (stupid...LOL!). Anyway the game was fantastic. Malaysia won 3 - 1 againsts Singapore thanks to a solid display of attacking football. For the first time I was quite happy with Malaysia's performance.

ok...I've been doing some reading about internet buisness and how I can make make money online. It is really interesting to know that a lot of people out there are earning huge income from whatever that their doing be it advertisement, online shop etc etc. I tried joining one of such money making program called "affiliate program" from a company called exabyte. Look at the bottom part of my the page and you can see their banned ad. If i were able to get people to click on that banned and resulting in them purchasing something from exabyte, I would get a certain amount as commission. Sounds interesting enough. Anyways my blog is still deeeeep in the jungle and has yet to come out. I'll be focusing more on making my blog popular for the time being.

Cromartie High School

A little on an anime series i just completed. Its called Cromartie High School. The story revolves around the main character Takashi Kamiyama (guy with arms across his chest) who just started life at Cro High where all the student are deliquents. However thanks to some weird reasoning by his closest friend Shinjiro Hayashida (the guy with the mohawk), the whole school thinks he is the most badass guy in the school. Hayashida's reasoning was if there was a rabbit living among a pride of lion, wouldn't you think that it is one baddass rabbit? So relating back to Kamiyama, he looks like an average student compared to the other guys with their plucked eyebrow, dyed hair, scars on their face etc. etc.

The story itself is quite weird and most of the time hilarious. My favourite episode must be episode 3. You gotta check it out. Im still lauging while writing this.

Theres a bunch of lovable characters in the series especially a badass guy or robot called Mechazawa who is basically a walking tin can and another guy called Freddie. He looks a lot like the late Freddie Mercury and I believe the author really loved Queen and decided to create a character that resembles Mr Mercury.

Seminar, Seminar

I just went for a seminar provided by a company in land asset management. Basically they are offering ordinary people like you and me a chance to play the "Rich Man's Game". Basically this company is involve in land banking. The term land banking means taking (buying) a piece of undeveloped land, put out concept plan for future development and submit it to the local goverment or authority. Once its approved, the land value will definately goes up and at that point, developers would be tempted to buy that land from you resulting in profit!

The seminar itself was quite interesting as I was able to learn new skills for doing presentations and sales. Currently I'm still pondering the idea of joining this organisation. Well I'm looking forward to next week's seminar to see if I would be able to make up my mind by that time. Be positive! If others can be successful,why not me?
